This show rocked. Human Fade headlined RIPPED. My brother took a two hour train from Brooklyn (thanks Sam) and said Cars Crashing is “exhaling emoji.” Agreed; it’s so good. These folks deserve a ton of praise for their debut album & have accomplished so much in first (!) year of their band. Stoked to see what's in store for them.
Gursday, which wins the award for “my new favorite band that I never heard of before booking shows.” Other awards include: "most likely to leave behind a backpack with hundreds of dollars worth of cables and also a Playboy belt" (stream Condensed)
Speaking of old friends, hearing Jim Hill’s voice in a tiny bookstore deep on Long Island brought back memories of standing in the dark for a Slight Of set at Scully’s Den, our friend Scott’s long-since-shuttered house venue in Brooklyn. I am so grateful to them for making the trek out and playing their great "indie meets classic rock rust belt" tunes. (btw my favorite Jim albs, probably for nostalgia reasons, are Hate the Summer (on bandcamp) and Lifelike.)
Seeing strangers hanging out in the parking lot and becoming friends was one of the most heartwarming things I’ve experienced all year. Thanks for coming out!
P.S. in lieu of a donation fee, we collected new hats, gloves, and socks for donation. Y'all SHOWED UP!!! Someone even brought a pair of $30 socks. The kindness is not unrecognized — thank you so much for caring so deeply about others.
