How Ballpark Produced a Sold-Out Book Launch & Media Panel at an art museum (MoCA L.I.)
Impact Metrics → Sold-Out Capacity Crowd | All-Female Music Journalist Panel
CHALLENGE
High-level cultural discourse, publishing launches, or media panels analyzing big-tech streaming exploitation rarely take place in suburban environments. Long Island residents are typically forced to commute to New York City and pay $50–$100+ per ticket to attend major literary panels. Independent authors and music journalists struggle to find suburban partners capable of producing high-density events that combine rigorous cultural reporting with live independent music.
SOLUTION
Ballpark collaborated directly with author Liz Pelly to produce the Long Island launch event for her book Mood Machine: The Rise of Spotify and the Costs of the Perfect Playlist at the Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island (MoCA L.I.). Ballpark curated an all-female music writer panel featuring Pitchfork editors Arielle Gordon and Anna Gaca alongside Pelly, an author reading, and performances by four independent musical acts (Cal Fish, Voicemail, Warm Wishes, and The Mops).
